Who Will be The Next Inspector General of Police in Kenya? Kingo'ri Mwangi? Will Kales Accept?

This is an insight look into who will take over after the already resigned Inspector Kimaiyo leaves office. A quick look into those being mentioned generates the name King'ori Mwangi. He is the current Deputy Commissioner of Police at the HQs and has been in Nairobi before he was transferred to Mombasa to stem the rising insecurity at the Coast.

The problem to the above allegations is that Kingori is a Kikuyu (from the president's tribe) while Kimaiyo is a Kalenjin (from the Deputy President's tribe). In Kenya, such appointments raise a lot of political heat as kinsmen directly allude the appointments as being 'their own.' The president is therefore walking between a hard rock and a tight rope.

It is obvious that interested parties (and especially politicians) have waded into the mud earlier enough. Kimaiyo who specifically comes from Elgeyo Marakwet county has seen politicians from the region say that one of their own should be chosen to the position as 'they do not hold' any Senior position in the Jubilee Government. In fact they scores of them have blamed the area Senator Murkomen as having quoted on social media that Kimaiyo was unable to contain the rising insecurity in the East African country.

So the problem arises, if Kingori is posted to the vacant position, the Kalenjins will feel they have been shortchanged for a senior government position for people they rarely trust; the Kikuyu. It is worth noting that Ruto and his tribesmen voted for the Jubilee Government and are a bit worried if they will be supported by the Kikuyu in 2022 when apparently Uhuru will retire.

It is an interesting watch. Keep it here for informed opinion articles always.
